Transportation

Roads and Highways—

The City is fortunate to have a 4 lane freeway (US HWY 53), running north and south through the City. In addition, US HWY 8 runs east and west, just 5 miles south of Rice Lake. The City is situated 100 miles east northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul, 90 miles south of the Duluth/Superior port cities and 375 miles northwest of Chicago.

Airport—Rice Lake is fortunate to have a modern corporate transport airport built in 1995. It has two runways, with the primary runway 1-19 measuring 6,700’ x 100’. The airport has a 4,000 square ft. terminal, conference room, refueling, maintenance, daily UPS deliveries and sending of packages, car rentals, full-time Life Link service and cab service. For further information, see Rice Lake Airport, Life Link III, or Rice Lake Air Center (FBO)

Railroad—

CN operates rail service to Rice Lake businesses via their spur line from Ladysmith. In 2012, this entire spur was strengthened and new crossings installed at all intersections in the City. Several business sites are available in the City with access to this line.

Taxi Service—

The City offers two options: a shared ride program run by the City and a private cab service.
