Housing and Other City Amenities

Housing—

The City has a wide range of homes and building sites available; from low-income housing to upper scale homes. There is a good supply of available homes in the City, including waterfront properties, at all price levels. See the Chamber website, for a listing of Realtors in the area.

Woods and Water opportunities—

Rice Lake is a 900+ acre lake that is adjacent to the downtown. The lake boasts some of the best musky fishing in the state, together with other popular species. In addition, there are many other area lakes, resorts, snowmobile and ATV trails in Barron County and other counties nearby. From an environmental standpoint, the lake, (Rice Lake), is supported by the Rice Lake Lake District Rehabilitation Association. Barron County’s public recreational lands are described in the tourism section of Barron County Tourism.

Organized Sports—

The Rice Lake Area School District, the City Parks and Recreation Department and other organizations offer many types of sports activities. The City has a close relationship with the District and both entities cross-utilize athletic facilities such as gyms, athletic fields, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and many others. As a result, the City has highly utilized and regarded youth and adult programs.

Turtleback, our open-to-the-public championship golf course is rated 4-star by Golf Digest. Lynndale Golf Course offers another local challenging 9-hole opportunity, and there are numerous other courses within an hour drive of Rice Lake.
